Frequently Asked Questions

Because The White Cockatoo markets to many segments, and caters for Nudists and non-nudists alike,
the following questions and answers are very common in our enquiries.

We have answered these openly and honestly and by doing so,
we hope to achieve a clear perspective of The White Cockatoo, its facilities, and method of operation.
You seem to market only to couples?

A common misconception.
While The White Cockatoo is now known throughout the world as an ideal couples destination,
we do very actively market to families and singles as well.
We in fact have a number of special rates for families in the hope of attracting more as our property is ideal for children.
What about singles wishing to stay ?

Not usually a problem.
We have many single travellers, both male and female, who stay with us. All are welcome providing the rules and limits are clearly understood
however we would not allow 20 single guys at one time as other guests do not enjoy such an imbalance in numbers.
Single males should always make an advance reservation to avoid disappointment with availability.
Is The White Cockatoo clothing optional ?

Absolutely Not.
The Nude area  of the resort, and all Nudist related activities are Nude only, NOT clothing optional.
The 5 chalets in a separate non-nude area are strictly Clothed Only year round.
We want to stay at another time other than October to May. Can we be nude then ?

No.
As we always say "The Comfort Level Of The Genuine Majority Is Always Our Priority"
and therefore as the majority from May til October are non-nudists it is their comfort level we need to protect during those months.
Nudity is therefore not permitted during these months
I'm calling you from the UK and wish to come in December, how hot is it, and can we go to the beach?

The temperature in our area is usually in the low 30's.
As we live in the tropics, yes the humidity is climbing as we head into the traditional "wet season", which usually occurs in the early parts of the new calendar year.
The weather is usually fine with light winds and it is a great time to come to The White Cockatoo.
As far as the beach, the sea temperature is quite warm and the hot sand will give the toes a little hurry up,
It must always be noted that the marine stinger (jellyfish) season is November to May and no hiding the fact they are at their worst during the early part of each year.
All popular beaches have stinger nets and if you want to swim in the sea, there is adequate protection.
The Great Barrier Reef is free of the little critters, so any excursion to this part of the world is a must.
See, this is where our pool is much better than the beach anyway. Salt chlorinated, always cool and refreshing, no sand up ya duds,
plenty of sun bathing areas and a cold drink is always available at the bar.
If you get too hot, your air conditioned chalet is only a few steps away,  So who needs to go to the beach anyway ???
Are there nude beaches in your area?

Yes there are, however nothing legal.
The Queensland Government or for that matter every Queensland Government since federation, have refused to change any laws in reference to clothing option beaches.
However there are miles and miles of secluded beaches in our area with some frequented by nudists and we will happily point you in the right direction.
How do we get from Cairns airport to The White Cockatoo ?

We can provide return transfers.
Minimum 5 night reservation required for provided transfers. Return Airport transfers are provided at $50 single or double with latest pick-up or drop-off being 7.00pm.
Airport transfer requests will require an authorisation to charge accommodation and transfer coststo supplied credit card on day of arrival 2 hours prior to pick-up time.
This is a change in policy effective August '08 and not applicable to any bookings made prior to then.
We hope this answers most of the important questions some of you may have.

If not, please contact us via Online Enquiries.

We've heard about some negative comments about The White Cockatoo.
Should we be concerned ?

Definitely not !
Always feel free to ask us about anything at all you may have heard, as we will always answer any in an open and honest way, and provide factual back up if required.
It sometimes also helps to look at those making any negative comments or allegations and what their reasons or motivations actually might be.
It would be fair to say that our target market of "nice" people is always well satisfied with all that we provide
and this is reflected in the extensive list of guest comments shown in this site.
We've been quoted many times saying
"We could not care less about what people might be saying about us, just as long as they are saying something about us.
The "nice" people always work it out for themselves."
We don't bother with answering dishonest comments in online chat rooms, soft porn scandal mags, or the like.
The continued success of The White Cockatoo speaks for itself.

We have seen The White Cockatoo mentioned elsewhere as a Swingers Resort. Is this true ?

Absolutely NOT !
Swingers, and all others with alternative lifestyle choices, seeking to stay at The White Cockatoo should leave their private sexuality choices at home
if wanting to stay during the nude seasons.
The only exception to this is March 2009.
Does it get busy at The White Cockatoo ?

Yes, but quiet as well.
After 5 sucessful nude seasons The White Cockatoo now has the ability to give some idea of busy times & quiet times
for those wanting to plan ahead and visit either when lot's of people are here, or to almost have their own private resort during quiet times.
